What is a Proxy?

A proxy is a tool that acts as a middleman between your device and the internet. It hides your real IP address by replacing it with its own, allowing you to appear as if you're browsing from a different location.

When combined with GoLogin, a proxy helps you completely hide your digital identity, pairing a new IP address with a new browser fingerprint for better anonymity.

Do I need to use a Proxy?

Yes! A proxy is essential for most tasks you want to accomplish with GoLogin. Whether it is managing multiple social media accounts, web scraping, digital marketing or something else, it is impossible to break the link between your personal or work fingerprint without the proxy.

Without a proxy, even if you're using GoLogin Browser Profiles with unique fingerprints, websites can still link them to your real IP address or detect that multiple accounts are being managed from a single IP.

Which Proxy do I need?

There are three main categories of proxies: Residential, Mobile and Data Center.
While we cover these in detail in another article, here's a brief overview of which proxy you should choose based on your task:

  • Residential Static: Managing multiple social media accounts, E-commerce (marketplace accounts), online banking, etc.
Any activity that requires you to work with an account for long-term on a high-level website.

  • Residential Rotating: Web scraping, SEO tracking, price monitoring, etc.
Basically, any activity where you have to appear as a real user but don't need a long-term connection.

  • Mobile proxies: Managing social media, bypassing highly restrictive websites, testing mobile-specific services.
Mobile proxies often have higher trust scores than any residential, however, they are not always suited for desktop applications.

  • Data Center: Non-sensitive web scraping, mass automation tasks, accessing geo-blocked content, web application testing.
These should only be used on websites that don’t have strict anti-bot measures or IP reputation checks.

We do not recommend using data center proxies for social media, e-commerce or ad management.

Where do I get Proxies?

There are lots of third-party proxy providers out there and they all will work with GoLogin! We’ve compiled a list of trusted providers that we recommend — check it out here.

Here's an article about setting up third-party proxies.

For some cases, our built-in proxies will work as well, here's an article about our GoLogin proxies.
