Proxies from third-party providers

The GoLogin app is not responsible for 99.9% of the proxy errors from third-party providers.

When you hover over the "error" and see a Proxy error, it indicates that the GoLogin instance on your device cannot connect to the proxy in the profile.
The proxy errors usually look like this:

List of the proxy errors and their meanings (expandable).

  • Proxy error. Proxy connection timed out

    • No connection to the proxy

  • Proxy error. Proxy server doesn't respond

    • No connection to the proxy

  • Proxy error. Response code 407 (Proxy Authentication Required)
or Proxy Error: bad response : 407

    • Usually wrong login or password

  • Check timeout exceeded

    • No response from a proxy

  • EACCESS *the IP and port*

    • Something on your device blocks the connection

  • Socks5 proxy rejected connection - Failure

    • Wrong proxy settings, bad connection

  • Socks5 proxy rejected connection:NotAllowed

    • Wrong proxy settings, bad connection

  • write EPROTO 119433096:error:100000f7:SSL routines:OPENSSL_internal...

    • Issues with the SSL certificates on the proxy side

  • Client network socket disconnected before secure TLS connection was established

    • The proxy SSL certificate has expired, different SSL protocols, connection issues

  • Certificate has expired

    • The proxy SSL certificate has expired

  • Received invalid Socks5 initial handshake (invalid socks version)

    • The provider uses incorrect version of the SOCKS protocol

  • Socks5 proxy rejected connection: CommandNotSupported

    • Proxy server error

  • 403 Forbidden

    • Proxy blocks the IP, try with a VPN

  • Bad response: 401

    • Restart the app and check the proxy settings

Troubleshooting the connection error

1. Check the proxy settings!

Firstly, is important to check if you have:

  1. A mistake in the proxy credentials.

Thoroughly compare the IP, port, username, password received from the proxy provider and the creds you input into the GoLogin profile. They should be the same.

  2. Wrong HTTP or SOCKS protocol set in the settings.

Make sure to set the protocol as by the proxy provider's recommendation.

2. Does the proxy work?

There's a 99.9% chance that if the proxy does not work in those checkers - it won't work in GoLogin.

Often times, the proxy just doesn't work because of the unpaid proxy or maintenance on the provider side. The best way to determine whether the proxy does actually work is using third-party checkers, such as:
https://proxy6.net/en/checker
https://gologin.com/proxy-checker/

All you need to do is to just input your proxy credentials as you do in GoLogin, click Check proxy and wait for the result for a few seconds.

Using the proxy checker (click to expand)

If you see the ping number in the Status column - your proxy is in working order.

If you see the N/A symbol and no location data - there's a 99% chance that the proxy does not work and you should contact your proxy provider, including a screenshot from the checker in the conversation.

3. Is my network ok?

If your network connection is at fault, the best way to test it is to change it.

  1. Connect to another network. Try connecting to another WI-FI or using your phone as a hotspot.

  2. Try using a VPN. Any free VPN solution should suit the needs. We tend to recommend Proton VPN. Just download the app and connect to any EU country available. Restart GoLogin and see if it fixed the issue.

  3. Restart your local router. The ISP will usually re-initialize some settings and provide you with a new IP address.

  4. Check the proxy using the web-based GoLogin version. It will ensure you are using a different network and setup. Go to app.gologin.com using your regular browser and perform a proxy check there as you do on your device.

If changing your network did fix the issue, look into testing other proxy providers that work on your network, changing your inbound-outbound network settings if you can, changing your ISP or using a VPN on a regular basis.

4. Is my setup correct?

As with the network, the sure way to test if the system and settings of your device are at fault is just to swap it for another device you have at hand.

  1. Try installing GoLogin on another device in the same network and see if it works.

  2. Turn off a VPN if you've had it connected and connect to the VPN if you were not connected. It may sound odd, but changing things up is the right way to test!

  3. Turn off your antivirus software, especially if it is an unknown brand, or the software got installed in bulk with something else and you have no intentions of keeping it. We recommend using the default Windows Defender on Windows OS.

  4. Look into your Firewall settings, find how to explicitly allow the connection for GoLogin.

That is pretty much all we can advise for troubleshooting. We hope this article helps resolve the issue. In other case, do not hesitate to contact us in the support chat!

Possible root causes of the issue

There are many things that can potentially go wrong with the proxy or the setup. During the process of connecting to the proxy, there are numerous variables and possible bottlenecks. Here are the most common causes (expandable lists):

The Proxy Provider - issues or settings on the provider's side.

  1. Provider infrastructure is down, unavailable due to maintenance.

  2. Insufficient balance on your proxy account.

  3. Periodical change of the credentials for the proxies.

  4. Access to proxies allowed only from whitelisted IPs. If the IP of our checker is not set up there, the proxy won't work in GoLogin.

The Network - issues coming from your network (ISP, router, etc).

  1. Block from your ISP (especially if you are located in a country with severe internet restrictions).

  2. Block from the admins of public networks. This often happens with free WI-FI in hotels, restaurants, office buildings, basically any free public connection. It can rarely occur when you use your phone as a hotspot.

  3. Block or malfunction in your local router.

The Setup - issues coming from the settings or other software on your device.

  1. Firewall settings on your device. They might be restrictive or you did not press "allow" when the system asked you to let the app use the Internet.

  2. Use of a VPN app. Or other apps that alter your connection to the Internet. Rare with public VPNs but often with corporate VPNs that your employer might have you install (similar to the office network issue).

  3. Wrong proxy setup in GoLogin. This can happen if there’s a mistake in the proxy credentials you input into the app or the wrong protocol is chosen (HTTPS or SOCKS).

  4. Using dubious antivirus software. Those programs usually get pre-installed with some other software you intended to install (which can be quite annoying).
